Went to a donkey ptp link  :ermm:

Interrupting current string of events to point out Vicki's latest admin on Deep-C (and presumably also LotL): she deleted several ptp links which claimed they were links to help Haiti. WTG, Vicki! I think it is horrible for people to take advantage of such a tragedy to get hits.

I'll split my reply because it would end up way too long lol
Sophie, I didn't say it was wrong to reply, I'm only saying that perhaps writing the name of the site in your reply might have antagonized the situation a bit. You could have written the explanation and still let the site remain anonymous, you could have just said "I think I know which site you are talking about, and..." Once again, if Iamannoyed wanted the site named, she would have written the name in her first post about the issue and if she didn't, there obviously was a reason.

I'm not saying that it was this, but what your reaction looked like was almost like some kind of a control play, like you wanted to show that you're "in the know", in the middle of things. I realize that this must not have been the case, as I don't think you'd do something this shallow, but this is what it looked like to this outsider.

You're making a broad generalization when you say that when people read about such a situation and the site is not named, they run to other threads to check what site is being talked about. After all, I did read Iamannoyed's first post (before you replied to it) and it didn't come to my mind to do this. And no, it wouldn't even occur to me to go to someone's profile and check their posting history :faint:. Several times, though, when the information about a site was very alarming and I wanted to make sure it's not a site I am a member of, I would post in the thread to ask what site is being talked about. This still gives the poster a choice to either name the site publically, or to PM me with the answer, if they don't want the name posted (and there can be various reasons for that, from the poster wanting to protect their account to them wanting to protect the PO's privacy - bottom line is, if they didn't name it, I assume there was a reason. Obviously, the poster knows how to spell a site's name, and yet they didn't). Anyway, this was not a case of some horrible, threatening information that everyone needs to be warned about. A PO didn't do something that is a courtesy. It doesn't make me hyper-enthusiastic about them, but it doesn't make me think "we must name and shame", either. It's very easy to file in the "I don't need to know everything about everyone" bin. Until you did the "naming and shaming" part, which IMO did nothing to help the PO in question. The information that the site has expiry dates on affiliate pages is not an important bit of information you were contributing. All sites do and Iamannoyed is well aware of that I'm sure. All she was saying was that we don't always check this information (for various reasons, connection problems in this case) and it's really nice when a PO goes an extra mile for their members. She then named a few that do, while letting the one that didn't remain anonymous. Until you "unmasked" them.

From what I read, Iamannoyed was saying that she was wasting her ads because she hadn’t  been told before that her affiliate page had expired. The info I gave is not only that the info was available on the site but that as I clicked on her affiliate page, it still seemed to credit her. So, unless am told otherwhise, she wasn’t wasting any ad like she thought she was and that was supposed to be good news !
She had recieved notice and apparently was given a few days extra to extend the page or stop advertising, so basically, the result is the same as what Andrea/candycamp and SusanC!
You think that if I had not named the site but had said ‘I think I know which site you are talking about and apparently you are not wasting your ads and  received some extension to your affiliate page as I clicked on it and you were credited’ I would have had a nicer and less rude reply ? We will probably never know  ….
In any case, thanks for letting me know it came over as some ‘control play’, I felt it was a bit wierd to talk in riddIes as there was nothing dramatic in the entire situation so it didn’t even cross my mind to not name the site, I don’t know how I’ll do if such a situation occurs again but I’ll definitely will take your comment into account.

To be honest, this way of venting about sites without naming them at all always surprises me, why would people want to share the problems they had with sites but not let us know what site it is so we can know in advance and not risk the same problems ? Unless they are in the process of discussing it with the PO to find a solution, hiding who is harming others comes out a bit careless to me.
Also,  with this way of talking about sites without naming them and keeping all in hidden PMs and conversations, rumours start and misinformations are spread. Had you asked Iamannoyed to PM you the site, she might have done so and you would have been convinced that she had lost money and wasted ads when Renée from what I can see here, did care and gave the necessary time.
What if next time it is false informations  about you that is spread around, would you also find it disrespectful if someone tries to correct it ?

As a side note, about checking people's posts, maybe you don't do that but I have had it very often that people wanting to argue something I say, go back, search for posts I made months or years ago, here or at other forums, and then take it out of the context and use it to make a point against me, some people know my posting history better than I do myself ;)

As for Andrea, your problem with her site has nothing to do with what Iamannoyed posted about. It looks like you chimed in just because you saw the word "Andrea" and therefore you had to tell the same story over again that you already repeatedly told elsewhere. Does the fact she and you have an issue about something else mean you cannot allow anyone to praise her for something totally unrelated? No, you're not forbidden to post about your problem with Speedearner, it just didn't make make much sense that you did this here. Especially seeing as Iamannoyed mentioned her as part of a team ("Andrea and Candycamp") with a site helper who is not her helper at the site you had an issue with. And yet you "extracted" Andrea out of the duo mentioned and wrote what looks to me like totally unrelated comment there. :-.
It was related because if Andrea gave notice to Iamannoyed, she doesn’t do that with everyone, it shows often that some are special and others not, is all … I didn’t mention Candycamp because it wasn’t at the site she manages that I had that experience but another site Andrea owns, I only had wonderful experiences with Candycamp since way before Andrea took over PTParty.

And what is the problem with telling people again about Andrea ? Do you tell Monia when she talks about her problem with Xray that she tells it again ? Do you stop people from talking about Carole at nausea and do you blame them if they react when someone praises her ? Or is it just about Andrea that I should be silent and not warn newbies and others about what might happen to them ?
You know what makes me Argggg, it is that because that taboo about Andrea,  she keeps on selling lifetime upgrades and then will later or remove them like she did with mine or review it to adapt to the current market like she calls that !!!
Also, no one will tell the newbies that with the changes of PTP rates planned at speedearner, unless Andrea lowers cash out minimum, they will have to upgrade or wait a veryyyyy long time before reaching cash out because with the new rates and the value of the links, reaching 5$ will be a hard task … so, with the way the changes are presented, all the currently earned money will remain in the accounts for ages and am sure many will give up or redeem for ads which will mean that the debt will be transferred to better sites ………….

So, am sorry but whatever my feelings are, you can’t deny that there are many signs that should make everyone be careful !

Honestly, I have never been a member of Mental and don't follow the developments there, so I can't comment about how similar or dis-similar that situation is and whether it was on topic to bring it up.

I don’t think you need to know what happened to Mental to know if this is related or not but well, I guess that’s each their own …
After having read your post Triskell, I was smiling, generally, friends are there to protect us and to show us our mistakes so we can do better next time …. Somehow, I felt you protected one and showed the mistakes to the other  ;)

Administrative messages that don't give you an option for "i have read and understand" or something similar.

I will go check these out
These packages don't meet my needs, I will contact you

Neither applies in my case.  I don't want to buy ads from this site, I don't want to check out their ad packages, and I won't be contacting them to get a custom package set up because again I do NOT want to buy ads from this site.

Why can't they give us an option that acknowledges we've read the admin but doesn't force us to pick an option that just isn't true for us?

I have read and understand, or thanks for the information, or something similar would be nice

I was having that problem at Joint Venture last week.  I sat there for a good 10 minutes choosing "I'm not interested"   :haha: :ROFL2:

Something like that happened to me recently, I don't remember which site. I think it was a mistake when it got set up, but there were two out of three options to acknowledge having read the the admin, and one which was the typical cheater-catcher, but only one of those two would let you move on :P

I was told that the script for the admn messages does not handle an apostrophe well, so messages that contain them get stuck. When I removed the apostrophe in one of mine, the message worked properly.

I am not sure if this applies only to the answers or the body of the message as well

Well, after the little disagreement in the previous posts and me having said I am a friend of Frances of Mentalemails, someone must have gone and check my account at E-qoo for whatever reason .... I received a notification this morning that my link for Mental in the Manual surfer was rejected.

I understand the link is rejected now that the site is down but I had not allocated credits to it since November and the site has been down for some time now.
It is just after the little discussion here that there is a little check on my account at Eqoo and that suddenly that link must be rejected as if I would allocate credits to a site that is not up anyway ... and it is me who is accused of being stalking ???

Sophie are you sure it is because you are stalked? I can imagine that with Mental being gone, databases with sites that can go into rotation are being checked and that Mental is being removed. I mean is it just your mental link that is removed? Can others still promote mental on the E-Qoo2 server?

I rejected ALL mental links --active or inactive--so that people who were actively promoting it wouldn't lose their credits promoting a dead site, and I discussed it with Esperanza before doing so.

And I did NOT check anybody's account before rejecting the mental links.

I checked the surfer and the surfer alone. I sorted by url, not by username.

If it was a mental link in the surfer it was rejected pure and simple because the site is currently down and has been for quite a while.

I could bloody care less if Sophie is a friend of Fran's either or vice versa.  I don't make decisions on what links to reject from the surfer or the ad manager out of spite, hatefulness, who is friends with who, or retaliation.

I reject ads because

1) they are ptp (not allowed)
2) they are for banned sites
3) they are for sites that don't load or have error messages such as server not found(BINGO!!)
4) they are for sites that trigger my anti-virus software

Elena's link was inactive too.  Tahi's was active.  I don't like to see anyone losing credits.  NOBODY IS ALLOWED TO PROMOTE MENTAL IN OUR SURFER AT THIS TIME.

I've never done anything to anybody at ANY of the sites I owned or ANY of the sites I admin at out of retaliation, and I won't start now.

I'm now off to check if anyone (including myself) has rotator views running for Mental (affiliate page or index) so that they won't be wasted too.

Excuse me, but this is not how we work. My three admins and myself are perfectly capable to make a clear distinction between personal opinions, likes and dislikes and the way my sites are managed. Personal opinions, likes and dislikes are left at the door of the admin panels and all members, whether we have a personal issue with them or not, are treated in the same and usually courteous way. I think there are quite a few people around who can testify to this.

Your accusation that Suellen removed your mental link because of a personal issue with you is completely false. We frequently remove both active and inactive links of programs that disappeared from both surfer and PTP, to avoid runner PO's or their hosts profiting from hits to parked pages which is not what our advertisers or members paid for.

I think you really stepped over the line here. I'll leave it up to you to decide what your next action should be.

Now I'm going back to bed to sleep off the flu.

Hope you feel better Esperanza

I have to agree that E-qoo2 and Our PTR 2 are run very professional and despite any personal issues we may have with each other, it does not come into play if you are a member of the sites.

I am always treated with respect as a member despite any issues I may have with the owner or her admins which I hope are all in the past(at least as far as I am concerned) anyway.

You are most definately correct susan, we had the same problem on our sites until Jutaky educated us. His advice is steer clear of apostrophe''''''s  :) in both but particularly in the answers. We haven't had a problem since, well, not that problem anyway  :D

Hi,

Well, Iamannoyed accused me of taking infos from support folders to have 'ammunitions to bash members' and she even informed 'people' about it, she also accuses me of stalking because I referred to 1 post she had made the same day ...
Those are very important accusations and actions against an administrator of a forum and I consider it as diffamation. Of course there is no way I could prove her to be wrong even if many can testify too I would never ever do things like that.

The next thing I saw is that after those accusations and the discussion in this thread where she had brought up Mentalemails and my relation with the owner, 'bang', there are changes in my account about my Mental link when the site has been down for quite some time now and she knew it as she mentioned it herself.
It could be good maintenance of the site or a way to intimidate, personally, I must admit that this time I don't know what to think anymore myself. I understand your reaction Espy but even you can't be in her head and know why she suddenly started cleaning Mental's links.
In any case I might simply have ended up giving Iamannoyed a taste of her own medicine, she surely must have no problem handling that or wouldn't consider it as stepping over the line.

I think that the next action I'll take is to simply move on ....

Have a nice day and I hope your flu will go away soon
