AdBrite ruined by Snap ads?
« on: April 06, 2009, 10:49:15 AM »
I've been pretty happy with my AdBrite account so far, they serve CPM banners or CPC contextual ads (like google). But now they have some new ads through Snap.com

The annoying thing is that those are contextual text links that are apparently CPM based, they're always blue links on a white background. Which means you have extremely attractive ads on your site that get clicked a lot but you're not earning for the clicks.

Here's an example of the ad:

(looks even worse when I unblock snap.com with noscript)

It rips the main keywords and games from my site and puts it in there. And also makes my site look terrible.

Earnings even went down from $8-10/day last month to $3-5/day this month so far. :(

Does anyone else have those problems? I'm thinking about removing most ads, except on sites with a white background. :hmm2:

I am not seeing the problems on my site. Here is an example of what my AdBrite ads look like.

Can you post your link to your site so that we can compare what the ads look like?

My site is flashtowerdefence.com - adbrite appears 1 out of 3 times as the top banner.

But it may be because you're in a different country that you can't see them, but I thought you were from the USA so it's not likely you wouldn't get them. :hmm2:

I see them at your site too, sorry for a big image:

sounds like a nice recipe btw :D

Yes. I am in the USA. I get banner ads most of the time on Firefox, but on IE browsers? They are blank banners.

Thank you on the recipe. It is something that I created.

I was running adbrite, until they told me what kind of content that I could and could not discuss on my blog. Because I talked about PTC I got labeled PTC, which is completely false. I have since spoken to google and bidvertiser, both of which viewed my site and approved it to run ads.
I will say though, when I did run adbrite, on 5 different sites, I never noticed snap ads. My ads always displayed in the color scheme that I selected.

Peace,

Bob

They do have pretty strict rules, but fortunately a lot of sites do accept blogs that discuss PTR. I don't know when you used them, the snap ads are on my sites since (about) april 1st. For the first few days it seems like almost a 100% snap ads, now I see them a lot less, but they're still too annoying. I like contextual ads but not really those ones. :hmm2:

I have paid to read, paid to click and all that, but I talked about other things on my blog, and they have not suspended my account or anything since it is more general in nature than anything else.

Good for you! :D

Have been quite happy with AdBrite lately too, the snap ads are not that overwhelming anymore and on a white background they even look okay. :)
