What Are Points Good For?
« on: May 25, 2017, 06:51:30 AM »
Hi. Just curious. What are my points good for? I used to use them for advertising and I had been saving some for that point upgrade, but now I don't see what I can use them for. 800,000+ points took me several years of clicking to get and I'd really rather not think about exchanging them for only 80 cents. Thanks for your time!

Hello Dorothy :)

Well of course they're still good for advertising, even though the point upgrade disappeared. As far as I know, the only options are to redeem them for ads, convert them to cash, or see if they'll go mouldy in your account! And by far the best option is redeeming for ads.

If for example you redeem 7,000 points for a 4-point contest PTC ad to 1,000 (and of course there are other cheaper/slower ads and other more expensive/faster ones) with 800,000 points you could buy 114 of them!

Even if you only average 20 cents CPM promoting your DonkeyMails link, for example, (and it should be more) that's $22.80 into your DonkeyMails account, so as you say, there's clearly no sense in just converting them to cash.

I really like points at Heather's sites, and I think there are some good options for redeeming them.

Thanks for the post, Dave!

You can also convert points for credits in the New Surfer.  10 points = 1 New Surfer view.  So 800,000 points would be 80,000 credits.  Depending on the site or sites you choose to advertise, you can earn far more that way as well vs converting the points to cash.

Thank you both for posting!! I apologize! I had actually hit the Advertise button and didn't see ANY ads I could use my points for. I just realized it tonight when I clicked on the Redeem button instead!  ::) Sorry for the silly question as I should have investigated further before coming in here. I knew I had seen advertising before that I could use my points for, but couldn't find any on Wednesday when I went looking. I must have been more tired than I thought. Thanks again Dave and Heather!

Oh and even though I'm only a member of one of Heather's sites, I really enjoy being a member of OAP!

Thanks Heather, and no problem Dorothy! I think Heather only deducts 20,000 points for silly questions, so you've still got plenty left :D

Mind you, I think I'll also have 20,000 points deducted for rambling on about stuff you already knew, plus a further 50,000 for incorrect information. Should have guessed the third option was nothing to do with mould

Seriously though, I also really like OAP!
Great there's 100 click contest prizes a month at Heather's sites, and nice to see you're often on the board there! I always love to bag a prize as well
