Title: Site Errors
Post by: HeatherC on May 09, 2010, 02:38:50 PM
If you see an error on the site, please post it in this thread.  An error can be anything from an odd site error message to a typo.

If you see a "503" service error, please allow an hour to pass before reporting it.  This particular error is supposed to only occur when there is something wrong with the server, which usually means that some form of maintenance is being performed.  The error does not typically last for a long period of time and can clear up on it's own.

Don't know if it's a site error or not, it might just be me.  When I click on a PTC banner, when the site refreshes, the banner I click on is still there, but I've gotten credit for the link already.  I can either refresh, or just click the 2nd banner, and then it goes away, but then the 2nd banner remains even though I've clicked that, etc.  So basically, after clicking the first banner on a PTC page, I then have to click on the 2nd banner from then on out.

Sorry for rambling  ^^

Thank you for letting me know about that.  The site had that exact issue before, however it was solved by changing all of the 13 second links to 10 seconds.  I tested it myself and the issue seems to have returned.

I sent my host a support ticket so that they can look into it.  I'll update here when/if a solution is found.

My host couldn't find a reason why the site is doing that.  They did find that changing the ads to 8 seconds fixed the problem, however I had already dropped the timer from 13 to 10 to fix the problem...I don't want to go much lower than that.

I'll check the ads again for a few days to see if the issue resolves itself or if it persists.  If it persists, I'll look into lowering the timers to 8 seconds.

Is there a way to length the time for the refresh of the PTC page?  It seems that if that page just refreshed a second or to later than when the timer ends, it might be a workaround.

My host informed me that the only way to do that would be to contact the authors of the Cash Crusader script.  I might do that before changing the timer length.

Hey Heather,

During my clicking this morning, I can see now that the problem is not happening anymore.  (Y)(Y)

Hi there, I just joined the site last night, so I am not sure if you have already been told about this:

For every email that I receive from you, I actually get three. They are all identical, same links, same time stamp.

Thanks!

I'll set up a test account for myself using the e-mail provider that you are using.  I have one set up with my address for the PTR sites that I am a member of and another with Gmail account.  I received 1 copy of each to my Gmail account.  I'm downloading the PTR e-mails now.

Update: I did receive multiple copies of 5 e-mails, the last coming in just after 1am.  If it continues today, I'll contact my host.  The on site inbox is only showing 1 copy of each.  The site itself doesn't have the capability of sending multiple messages at the same time...it sends them on 5 or 6 minute delays in between.

I've only received 1 additional message that was doubled...if it continues tomorrow, I'll contact my host.  It could just be a temporary server glitch that is affecting a small amount of messages.

Not to burst your bubble, but the click error is happening again.

Not to burst your bubble, but the click error is happening again.

Can you post a couple of the e-mail titles that you received multiple copies of?  There was an issue with the cron, which my host fixed a couple of hours ago.  It released a flood of backed up e-mails from today.

So far, I've only received duplicates of 1 e-mail for KittenMails.  That was to my PTR account.  My test account with Yahoo hasn't received any duplicates so far.

I'll check again tomorrow afternoon when the cron has had a day to run correctly and see if the issue persists.

Are the PTC ads still reloading incorrectly?  I tested it yesterday and they were reloading too quickly, but today it seems to be fine.  I did contact my host about it, but I'm not sure if they addressed it since I had a lot of issues for them to handle at once.

Hopefully it stays fixed this time.  ;)

Hi there, I am having a couple problems with the site, I can not get to the PTP page it just has a series of strange letters down the page when i click on it.

I've heard about this issue before.  Whenever you see that, be sure to check out the location.  If it says anything other than http://oldamsterdampost.com/pages/ptpmain.php it will display that error. The most common thing for it to display is http://runner.oldamsterdampost.com/pages/runner.php  It makes the site think that it is a different domain, making the license for the plugin on that page invalid.  I think I might to a long link to the PTP page in the account menu since this is the third or fourth report with this issue.  It generally happens after clicking on e-mails or PTC ads as that is the purpose of the "runner".

and when i go to the convert points page they do not convert. Do I need to send a support ticket to do the points? or should the site be doing it? Thanks

For some reason, it wouldn't let me convert the full amount.  I had to go down to the nearest multiple of 500.  It let me convert that.  I'm planning on buying a better plugin for this function soon...the current one is either free or close to free and doesn't offer many features.  15500 points were converted.  If you wanted less points converted, please let me know and I can reverse the transaction.

I haven't had any issues reported with the support ticket system at all.  I get 4-5 support tickets a day.  I turned off the security image for the time being based on your report.

I am a new member (been away a long time) and have send you a ticket before coming here.... the refreshments of the PTC banners is not going like it should, I read a few posts back that that issue happened before. The affiliatepages don't show banners at all for me as it says MySQL error

ETA: when I click a banner it will disappear and then come back again after I have clicked next banner... next to that I do get the money for the click but my total of clicks (in contest) doesn't increase at all.

Thank you for letting me know.  I've taken the site offline and contacted my host.  I normally wouldn't take it offline, but since the links are crediting over and over again, it seems like the best thing to do at the moment.

Great such fast responce from your hosting company. I did notice that first the banners didn't credit at all and after that the banners kept on crediting... I did send in the ticket and posted here almost as soon as it happened. So there were not many clicks credited over and over  :)
Sorry about the tree and window... hopefully things are fixed soon!

I am aware of the Zend Optimizer error page on the PTP pages.  I have contacted my host as that usually occurs when something is going wrong with the server or when they are working on the server.  I'm assuming that this has been going on for about an hour as both reports of the issue were from just before noon EDT.

At this point, I can't even view the PTP plugin in my admin area as it is full of really odd looking error codes.

Hopefully the issue will be corrected shortly.

There was a database issue that seemed to occur 1-2 hours after I was last online on November 18th.  It cleared all pending payment requests and all records of payments that I made yesterday morning.

I have contacted my host and provided them with one backup that might have all of the pending payment requests and a second, slightly older backup, that definitely has all of the pending payment information.

Please do not request a payment until this situation has been resolved.  Thank you!

This issue is ongoing and is been looked into by my host.  I do see the requests in backups from November 17th.  I also have the confirmation e-mails for each payment request, so I would be able to manually rebuild the list if needed.

The site is currently not functioning.  The site is being moved to a new, more secure and powerful server, following an outside malware attack on all sites on the server.  My host is aware of these errors and are working on smoothing everything out when the sites get fully transitioned to the new server.

Quote
March 23, 2014

My host is currently working on the site issues for OldAmsterdamPost and StCashUnlimited. I cannot send an admin message at StCashUnlimited as it is still promoting the download box at that site.

There was an outside malware attack on the server that houses StCashUnlimited and OldAmsterdamPost.  My host informed me that they were moving both sites to a newer, more powerful and secure server.  As far as I know, this is still in progress and the reason for the errors.

I am currently holding off on processing new ads at OldAmsterdamPost until this issue clears.  I am getting a Depreciated error message for almost every plugin.  I've been told that those that have been able to access StCashUnlimited are receiving the same message.

I'll be following up with my host later today to check on the progress, assuming that they do not contact me first.  Moving however many sites they need to move and making sure everything is up and running can be a time consuming job, especially if errors are encountered.

Thank you for your patience during this time.  Hopefully when everything is up and running, both sites will be more secure and faster than ever.

Heather

This has been corrected. It was due to a banner image for beenpaid.com still being on the site. That was a PTR rating type of site that has disappeared and apparently the domain has been released to the domain provider to do whatever they want with.

It's just a temporary problem, presumably connected to the server being replaced. Either way, hopefully it'll be back soon :)

My host's techs are working on the paid to promote issue right now. All of the files are there, but they are not showing correctly and are redirecting to the page not found error page.  I believe the issue is that the paid to promote script is an older one that might not be compatible with newer hard drives. They have fixed this before by assigning a downgraded PHP version to my site's, which is what I presume they are attempting to complete.

June 7, 2015

I received a message from my web host stating that the server that houses my sites is reaching it's end of life and needs to be replaced. They are replacing the server on or shortly after 3pm EST on Tuesday, June 9th.  The e-mail also stated that the work should be completed within 4 hours of the initial downtime.

This work is necessary to prevent server failure and complete loss of site files and data.

It's not a glitch.  I had two people at OldAmsterdamPost delete active ads with hundreds of clicks remaining.  I had to dig into the backups to determine approximately how many clicks they had remaining.  I do delete the expired ads at least once a month, usually at the beginning of the month.
